1 Objective:To study MR imaging features of schizencephaly.

2 Schizencephaly is frequently associated with other neuronal developmental disorders.

3 Results Of 34 cases , 15 were schizencephaly, 22 were gray matter heterotopia, 6 were pachygria.

4 Axial MR images can be confused with schizencephaly, but sagittal images show typical findings.

5 Methods MRI manifestations and differential diagnosis of schizencephaly in 21 cases were retrospectively analysed.

6 Results: On CT, the characteristic appearance of schizencephaly was the full-thickness cleft that extended from the ventricle to the surface of the brain and was lined with gray matter .
