1. The central white area is very hard and gritty, because the neoplasm is producing a desmoplastic reaction with lots of collagen. This is often called a "scirrhous" appearance.

2. Sclerosing (or scirrhous) hepatocellular carcinoma is a subtype of hepatocellular carcinoma.

3. The center is very firm ( scirrhous) and white because of the desmoplasia.

4. It is this marked increase in the dense fibrous tissue stroma that produces the characteristic hard " scirrhous " appearance of the typical infiltrating ductal carcinoma.

5. This collagenous component gives the neoplasm a hard " scirrhous " consistency that is palpable.

6. Pathologic pattern: 16 lesions were trabecular type and 2 lesions were scirrhous type.

7. Objective To study the relationship between mechanism of non-gene regulation apoptosis and prognosis of typical medullary carcinoma, atypical medullary carcinoma and scirrhous carcinoma.
