1. A. Examination and evaluation, including gross exam, otoscopy, cytology, and culture if indicated.

2. The subcommittee made a strong recommendation that clinicians use pneumatic otoscopy as the primary diagnostic method and distinguish OME from acute otitis media (AOM).

3. Tympanostomy tube sequelae on TMs and middle ears were evaluated through case history review and otoscopy.

4. Careful restraint or sedation or even anaesthesia is necessary to prevent damage during otoscopy.

5. Almost all otogenic brain abscesses have chronic suppurative otorrhea (present in this case on subsequent otoscopy), and more than half have a cholesteatoma.
