1. The structure and mechanical properties of silica sponge spicule found in China Bo-hai were studied.

2. The characters including spicule morphology and elemental compositions, chemical constituents and bioactivity of the marine sponge were studied.

3. The expression of ER was related to the spicule signs ( P0.05 ).

4. The skeletal elements of those with hard parts are fine, often branching elements called spicules.
