Long March, the the Long MarchˌLong ˈMarch, the a long journey across China made in 1934–35 by Mao Zedong and his Communist army in order to reach a new base in northwest China. It was a dangerous journey because the marchers were often attacked by their enemies in the Nationalist army, and by the end only one third of the people were still alive.
